It’s Saturday in Athens!
You’re probably running the hurry up offense to get everything necessary done before a noon kickoff, so let’s greet straight to the handful of items you need to be aware of this game day morning.
First, your game trailer, narrated by DGD Maria Taylor:
There have been signs that all may not be well in Lexington, and those signs grew on Friday when a longtime Kentucky football writer alleged that Mark Stoops
actually approached Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart last year about negotiating a buyout of his contract. The fact that no such deal was ultimately negotiated could mean that the story isn’t accurate. Or it could mean that one or both parties rethought the notion. It could also mean that the Wildcats weren’t able to put their hands on the necessary funds. One way or the other, it’s probably not great.
On the injury front the news could be better for the Bulldogs, with receiver Talyn Taylor out due to an upper body injury and tackle Ernest Greene continuing to work his way back from a lower body injury. Fortunately guard Micah Morris should be on the field for a Bulldog offensive line that may be beginning to gel a little in spite of itself. At a certain point, when your freshman backups have been forced into significant duty for nearly half a season of SEC football, they’re no longer really freshmen or backups.
Finally, your morning tailgate tune.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
