Honestly, this game? It’s not a great showcase for the NFL. Here at Buffalo Rumblings, we care so much about our readers that even with a subpar primetime matchup, it only feels right to give you your
proper space to discuss the action.
We passed on a thread for last night’s primetime “clash” between the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders in what became a devastating evening for quarterback Jayden Daniels due to an elbow injury. Bills Mafia were interested in talking more about the Buffalo Bills’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs than an NFC clash with zero rooting interests.
As for tonight?
There are no rooting interests. It’s more of the same. Well, actually… it’s always proper to root against the Cowboys. That’s actually a shame since Dak Prescott seems like a pretty awesome guy. It’s the bed owner/general manager/supremely out of touch Jerry Jones has made. Football would probably be better off without his meddling”efforts,“ but it’d also be a lot less interesting. He’ll never win a popularity contest due to his meddling in league-wide ownership matters, most notably how any one team approaches building a new stadium.
The joy one takes away from Jones’ filthy billionaire eccentricities is the fact that he has no idea how to properly run a football team (and no real business doing so), and that’s largely responsible for a playoff record of 4-10 in the last 25 years.
Side now: If you’re looking for Micah Parsons this evening, he now plays for the Green Bay Packers. Good one, Jerry!
There’s an interesting bit of history here for those of you less-versed in all thing NFC East. The Cardinals were once part of the NFC East from 1970-2001, when they played out of Missouri as the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are actually one of the oldest NFL teams, established out of Chicago, IL as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898. Following the end of World War I, the then Racine Cardinals re-entered play with the American Professional Football Association (APFA). When the APFA rebranded as the National Football League in 1922, the team was renamed the Chicago Cardinals.
The Cardinals carry a ton of history, including NFL championships in 1925 and 1947. Tonight, the look to carry on a recent tradition of making Jerry Jones look like a fool. Even Hall of Fame running back tossed a shoe toward Jones’ pulpit, signing with the Cardinals in 2003.
Is anyone going to pay attention to this game? We’re told the Cowboys are America’s team, so that probably means a fair amount of disillusioned fans will help Nielsen TV ratings. Here? We’re about to find out.
With that, here’s your open thread for Week 9 of Monday Night Football. As always be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
