Just before the weekend, it looked as if SC Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi was headed to Newcastle United. However, Aston Villa has come charging in with an offer and could be seeking to lure the Switzerland international away from a prospective move to the Magpies.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg had the news:

While not a direct contender to Bayern Munich, SC Freiburg has a talented enough team to make some noise near the top of the table. Losing Manzambi, however, will hurt the squad’s chances in 2026/27.
