Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is likely not resting or relaxing too much (we all remember what what happened the last time a coach went on a little trip during an international break, right?) and he is not alone at Säbener Straße.
Star attacker Jamal Musiala is embracing the grind as well, but Kompany wants everyone to just settle down and appreciate the progress the youngster has made to date and put focus on a full recovery, rather than an early return.
“There’s no team training during
the international break. We’re in constant contact with Jamal – depending on how he’s progressing and how he’s feeling. At the moment, it’s all on an individual basis. He’ll rejoin the squad at the right moment. It’s not just about his ankle, it’s also about his fitness. He’s improved physically; he’s more stable. He exudes maturity. I hope things keep getting better in the run-up to the World Cup. I’m not worried; it’s getting better and better,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kompany has the right mindset for this, but Musiala is definitely going to be angling to get as soon as possible. With his health hanging in the balance, everyone involved in the scenario should exercise patience.
