Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga spoke to the media ahead of his team’s match against AEK Athens on Wednesday. He was asked about the difficult time he’s had in these last few months, to which he said: “The truth is, it was a tough, difficult time for me. But I think that after every negative experience, there are good things I have to learn. I’ve worked really hard this summer and I’m a new man. I’m more disciplined than before. I’m working to repay the faith the club has shown in me. I’ve thought
a lot about the things I need to improve. I spoke with the manager and he gave me a lot of confidence.”
Camavinga on what he changed over the summer
“I went back to school, it was a very different experience. I worked on things I don’t usually do: discipline, I arrive two or three hours early to work out at the gym… Also my mindset, I’m a bit more mature.”
Camavinga on the match vs AEK Athens
“Every game has its own story, but our job is to win every game. We’ve started the season well and we have to keep it up. We need to win to build confidence.”
Camavinga on the team’s improvement with the arrival of Bernardo Silva
“Bernardo is a very good player who gives us a lot of possession and helps us a lot in our build-up play. He has helped us a great deal. He’s a great player, and great players always help us.”
Camavinga on Vinicius Jr
“Vini has been a Real Madrid fan since he was a child. He loves the club. I would never think he would want to leave.”
Camavinga on whether he has ‘redeemed’ himself for Munich after Barcelona
“I already had time to think about that in the summer, and it hurt. It wasn’t about redemption. I work every day to do those kinds of things on the pitch. What I did in Barcelona will be forgotten, and I’ll have to keep doing it in other matches.”
Camavinga on the atmosphere in the locker room
“We’ve always had a good relationship, we’ve always been a united team. But when the results aren’t good, you think there’s something wrong in the locker room. That’s just your point of view.”
Camavinga on Jose Mourinho
“He’s very nice, a great coach with a long history. You learn a lot from him every day, especially about the mentality you need to have on the field.”
