New AEW World Champion Will Ospreay kicked off tonight’s (Sept. 2) episode of Dynamite with a promo to celebrate the biggest win of his career when he beat Kenny Omega for the gold at All In 2026.
During the course of this interview, Ospreay admitted that Kenny has been the best wrestler in the world for the last 10 years, and he still regards Omega as better than him for 364 days out of the year. But Sunday at Wembley Stadium was the one day where that wasn’t the case, and now Ospreay is the new
world champion.
Moments later, Will seemed to take a lot of that back when he called himself “the best in the world” and the new standard.
After Ospreay said Omega can have a rematch whenever he wants, he moved on to talk about his interest in bringing the United Empire to AEW. It wasn’t clear to me if he meant the existing United Empire faction in NJPW, or creating his brand new version of it in AEW. Regardless, this is when heels like Ricochet and Gabe Kidd came out to crash the party.
Ospreay’s allies in the United Empire had his back, setting up what AEW’s social media calls a MASSIVE main event match between them, The Dogs, and The Demand for later in the night.
What did you think of Will Ospreay’s first promo as the new AEW world champion, as well as what AEW is setting up here with the United Empire? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
