Spain defender Pedro Porro was on media duties on Thursday at World Cup 2026 and spoke about both Lamine Yamal and his new Barcelona team-mate Anthony Gordon.
Yamal is back in full training with La Roja and looks set to be available for their opening game against Cape Verde on Monday.
Porro says there’s no doubt that the 18-year-old is already Spain’s best player and someone he relishes playing alongside.
“Lamine is our most important player and it’s a privilege to play with him. When you have a player like
him in front of you, you try to adapt to him,” he told a press conference.
Porro was also quizzed on Gordon and has some kind words for the England international.
“I’ve faced him in the Premier League and he’s very fast, versatile, and has an eye for goal. He’s very competitive. I wish him all the best at Barça,” he added.
Spain play their first game of World Cup 2026 on Monday against Cape Verde, while Gordon and England take on Croatia on Wednesday.
