Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward made waves at training camp when he began holding in for more money nearly two weeks ago. The All-Pro defensive tackle signed a two-year extension last summer, so the fact that he would hold in roughly one year after that surprised many.
As the Steelers gear up for their final preseason game on Thursday against the Carolina Panthers, as well as get set for their Week 1 opener against the New York Jets, Heyward was back practicing on Tuesday.
“Cameron
Heyward is working at practice in pads for the first time since his contract dispute became public on Aug. 7,” Mike DeFeabo of The Athletic reports.
Head coach Mike Tomlin noted that Heyward won’t play in Carolina for the preseason finale. Regardless, No. 97 is back on the field. We’ll see if more money is set to follow.
