During an interview with The Stunner, actor Paul Walter Hauser was asked if the rumor is true that he’s playing the role of Mick Foley in an upcoming biopic of the hardcore legend. Hauser confirmed that it is indeed happening.
“We can kind of break that news. I haven’t said it yet, but I’m attached to play Mick in a limited series. We haven’t gone out to market with it yet, but it’s happening.”
Per CageMatch, the Emmy Award winning actor has worked roughly 25 pro wrestling matches over the last two
years in places like MLW, GCW, ROH, and the independent scene. Hauser says he has definitely stolen a move or two from Foley along the way, and can’t wait to tell his story in this new series.
“I’ve aped a couple little things like the somersault senton off the apron, and stuff. And I’m definitely not afraid of doing some hardcore brawler stuff, which he was known for.
But I think, he also had a great sense of humor, and he was super smart, had a great mind for the business. And hopefully I can bring some of my personality to that aspect as well, because when you tell the story, you’ve got to humanize the guy. We’re not just telling a Mankind story. It’s like, no, this is the Mick Foley story.”
For whatever it’s worth, Hauser mentioned that Eric Young, Dustin Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and The Miz are on the list of wrestlers he hopes to work with in the future.
