First Quarter
Maryland gets the quick bucket off the tip, but Callin Hake comes back down and hits the transition three to give Nebraska the lead. First impression, it looks like Maryland’s full court press might be a little difficult for Nebraska today. The Huskers have turned the ball over three times in a row and the Terps have turned them into points (3-8 UMD). Amiah Hargrove takes an aggressive drive to the basket, misses the shot, but will have free throws (1 of 2). Rebounding has been a problem
for Nebraska this year and you know, it’s a little hard to rebound when you don’t even box out. Britt Prince has a nice pass to a cutting Callin Hake, who misses the shot, but Petra Bozan gets the second chance points. Kennadi Williams strips a Maryland defender, but Nebraska turns it back over. A media timeout is taken with 3:35 left in the first.
Callin Hake draws a Maryland player into an offensive foul as she does at least once a game it seems like. Logan Nissley will make good on the foul and drains a mid range jumper (8-13 UMD). The Huskers get a much needed stop and send an outlet pass to Nissley who stops and pops for a three. A plethora of missed shots from both teams will take us to the end of the first quarter. Thankfully, Nebraska has seemed to settle down a tad bit and not try and get into a track meet with Maryland because I promise you that would not end well for the Huskers.

Second Quarter
Jessica Petrie steals a pass out of mid air and then takes it herself for the hard fought bucket. The amount of offensive rebounds we give to opponents drives me insane and today is no different. A one possession game has turned into a ten point deficit. Logan Nissley has been the one silver lining as she drills another corner three. Quick trigger three by Nissley is nothing but net and as I type this she goes back down and snipes another one, she is up to 11 points. Amiah Hargrove has a nice shot that wants to spin all the way around the rim a couple times, doesn’t fall through, and then picks up a foul on the other end (22-29 UMD). Britt Prince has only attempted one shot this half and that’s a lot in part to Maryland’s defense. Media timeout with 4:45 left, Maryland up ten.
Every time Nebraska has a chance to pull it closer and close the distance, they turn the ball over or they take a bad shot; not rebounding is not helping either. I’m sorry, I’m going to say it, Petra is a liability defensively. Every single time they take advantage inside because she gets pushed around and can’t rebound well. Logan Nissley hits another shot, but Maryland comes back down and has a chance at a three point play. A cross court pass to Callin Hake leads to a baseline dribble and bounce pass into Bozan who connects for two. It’s not doing much to help the sting of a 17 point deficit though.

Halftime Stats
Logan Nissley: 13 points
Jessica Petrie: 5 points, 3 rebounds
Nebraska is shooting 37 percent from the floor, including 45 percent from three. Nebraska is losing the rebounding battle 15-23. They have 15 turnovers and only 6 assists.
Third Quarter
Nebraska just turned the ball over twice in less than 30 seconds. Logan Nissley, once again, drills a three to keep Nebraska fighting and then Callin Hake takes another charge. Jessica Petrie dishes it to Britt Prince who has her first field goal of the game. Nebraska cannot get any of their close shots to fall and it’s so incredibly unfortunate, thankfully Logan Nissley is hitting threes today; however, Nebraska is still down 36-54. Missed open layup turns into a Maryland three, Jessica Petrie heads down and collects two points. Eliza Maupin gets called for the offensive foul and that will send us to a media timeout with 4:19 left in the third.
Finally after what felt like forever, Nebraska gets the ball to fall through the net. All for not though as Maryland will convert a three point play after a foul from Britt Prince. I’m struggling to find many positives currently, Nebraska isn’t scoring, isn’t getting stops, turning the ball over, fouling. It’s just ridiculous. The Huskers are currently down 30 points with a little over a minute left in the third quarter. Emily Fisher, former Maryland player, is at the line for her first chance at points and she splits the pair. Britt Prince finally gets down hill, makes the basket and gets fouled, she completes the three point play to end the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter
Logan Nissley notches herself a career high and a first ever 20 point game with that three, she’s got 22 points. Callin Hake drives to the rim, gets fouled so she’ll head to the charity stripe and she makes both. I’ve sat here shaking my head for probably 80% of this game. I just don’t understand this team sometimes and maybe, just maybe, it’s time to look at coaching here. I’ve been an Amy Williams defender for awhile, but it’s getting harder and harder. The thing for her is, she wins enough games, most years, that it’s not enough to really press the panic button. Just food for thought I suppose and something to fill this empty space since there is not much to write about game wise. Kennadi Williams is a spark you want to see even when you’re down 23.
Kennadi Willaims gets the assist as Callin Hake hits the three. Nebraska has only scored 12 points in this fourth quarter. This game has been pretty much done since the half way through the third, it’s been so hard to watch. I’m not sure if I’d rather watch this game or the game against Wisconsin where we should have never lost in the first place, but just looked like we didn’t know what a basketball was. Nebraska continues to struggle against ranked teams and have yet to get a Quad 1 win.
