News broke on Wednesday evening that Julius Avent had committed to Michigan State University. The Power Forward from Bergen Catholic High in Oradell, New Jersey, will be the second member of Tom Izzo’s 2026 recruiting class.
Standing 6’8” tall and 220 pounds, Avent is listed as the 13th ranked PF and 78th player overall in the 247 Composite. In his junior season of high school, he led his team to the state championship in Class A while averaging 14.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Avent reportedly
has a good outside jumper to go with his inside game, so he can fill that coveted stretch-4 role.
