Alessandro Bastoni is in the midst of a tough week after being sent off for Italy in their World Cup play-off final against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday night.
The red card proved extremely costly as the Azzurri ended up seeing their World Cup dreams go up in smoke yet again after losing a penalty shoot-out.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with the Italy international and, according to Fabrizio Romano, remain as determined as ever to bring him to Camp Nou this summer despite his midweek howler.
“For Barcelona there are no doubts about the quality of Bastoni as a player,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“He has shown with Inter in recent years so for sure Barcelona want Bastoni. They are in contact with his camp. The exchanges on the contract, the salary, have already started.
“But Barcelona at this stage still don’t know how much Inter will ask for Bastoni this summer. Club to club negotiations have not started yet. Inter have not communicated any price, onnly that 50 million euros will not be enough to get Bastoni.”
Bastoni may well be keen for a new challenge after being booed by fans throughout Serie A recently and having now incurred more wrath with his red card.
Yet his price tag will be key, with Barcelona’s financial situation still an issue when it comes to transfers.
