Like so many games the Golden State Warriors play these days, their Saturday matchup with the Atlanta Hawks will be lacking in star talent. Not just because of who is injured for the Warriors, but also because of who is injured for the Hawks.
On the bright side, Jonathan Kuminga will play against his old team. That sure should be fun to watch…
Here’s the full injury report for each team.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (right patellofemoral pain syndrome)
It’s now 21 straight absences for Curry, but he’ll be re-evaluated
on Wednesday.
Out — Jimmy Butler III (right ACL surgery)
No new news here. Not likely to be new news for a while.
Out — Kristaps Porziņģis (left low back tightness)
Kuminga will get a chance at a revenge game, but Porziņģis will not. He left Friday night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons with back pain in the second quarter.
Out — Al Horford (right soleus strain)
I do feel bad for Horford. He was really finding his groove before this injury.
Out — Moses Moody (right wrist sprain)
For a while it looked like Moody would return during this six-game road trip, but now it really doesn’t seem clear at all when he’ll be back.
Out — Gary Payton II (right hip contusion)
GPII hurt his hip on Friday and was in noticable pain, but stayed in the game. Today? Not so much.
Out — Seth Curry (left adductor strain)
Still just four games this year for the younger Curry brother.
Hawks
Out — Jalen Johnson (left shoulder inflammation)
Atlanta looked entirely healthy, until a few hours before the game when Johnson, a budding star, was ruled out. That’s a big loss for the Hawks, and for fans who were looking forward to watching this game.
Out — Asa Newell (G League assignment)
Johnson is Atlanta’s only injured player, as their other player on the injured report is Newell, who is just getting some seasoning in the G League.
Enjoy the game, Dub Nation. It tips off at 5:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area.
