The Cincinnati Reds made the playoffs. Now what?!
Sneaking in as the #6 seed in the National League after the shocking collapse of the New York Mets, Cincinnati next faces the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL
Wild Card round. Both the Milwaukee Brewers (#1 seed) and Philadelphia Phillies (#2 seed) earned byes for their work during the regular season, leaving the Dodgers (#3 seed) left to face the Reds and the Chicago Cubs (#4 seed) pitted against the San Diego Padres (#5 seed) in the opening round.
It’s a best of three series, all of which will take place in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30th, at 9:08 PM ET.
Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st, at 9:08 PM ET.
Game 3, if necessary, is set for Thursday, October 2nd, at 9:08 PM ET.

All games in this particular series will be carried by ESPN, and they’ll be piggybacking the series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees as each of those games will be played on the same days at 6:08 PM ET on ESPN, too. In other words, it might be better to have access to the ESPN app so you can tune in for first pitch directly rather than depend on ESPN via other streaming services, as I doubt they’ll flip over to Reds/Dodgers until after Yanks/Sox has a) ended and b) they’ve spent a half an hour dissecting it via every talking head in the region.
Should the Reds advance past the Hall of Fame-littered Dodgers, they’d next face the Philadelphia Phillies with a chance to exorcise the demons of the 2010 NLDS and the Roy Halladay no-hitter. The first game of that series is set for Saturday, October 4th, though the start time for it is still TBD.
If the Reds make it to the series against Philadelphia, each of Games 1 and 2 would be hosted by the Phillies as part of a best-of-5 series. So, the first time the Reds would even have a chance to host a playoff game in Great American Ball Park wouldn’t come until Wednesday, October 8th in Game 3 of the NLDS.
It’s been a long time coming. Los Angeles first!
