The New Orleans Saints had two players named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team in quarterback Tyler Shough and left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. The Saints were one of just six teams to have multiple players named to the team, and the only team to have two players named on the offensive side of the ball.
Shough and Banks are the first Saints to be named to the PFWA All-Rookie team since WR Chris Olave in 2022, and this is the first time they have had multiple players named to the team since 2019.
The last two quarterbacks selected to the All-Rookie team, Jayden Daniels and CJ Stroud, were also named Rookie of the Year. This is a good sign if Shough is to beat out players like Jaxson Dart or Tetairoa McMillan for OROY.
The Saints got great value from their draft class this year, as Banks and Shough were each the 3rd player taken at their position, and now have each been named the best rookies at their respective positions in the NFL. This honor for each of them should reaffirm the optimism the Saints have going into next year, especially in a division that looks ripe for the taking.
