According to a report by Bild, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, currently on loan at Hamburger SV, refused to join training on Saturday. Peretz has had a terrible loan spell at HSV so far, playing only two DFB Pokal games for a total of 210 minutes.
According to the report, Peretz has gone on strike to force his move to Southampton, who have shown interest in the Israeli keeper. HSV, however, are adamant on keeping him until they can find a replacement. Bayern Munich have no say in the matter
— there is no break clause in the loan deal.
How did it come to this? Peretz was supposed to get regular game time at Hamburg, that’s why he was signed. No one expected him to be benched for 99% of the season so far. The player is naturally frustrated, and thus things have come to a head.
Now, it remains to be seen if HSV will budge from their position. Bayern Munich may have to pay a termination fee if they try to cancel the loan now, and that will all depend on the loan club’s consent. If the dinos don’t want to let Peretz go, he has very little leverage. He barely plays as it is — skipping training only makes minutes less likely to come by.
