Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed he wants both Marc Bernal and Marc Casado to stay at the club amid speculation about the two midfielders potentially leaving in January.
Both players are finding
game time hard to come by so far this season which has led to rumors of interest from other clubs.
Girona are thought to be keen on bringing in Bernal on loan this winter, while the rumor mill has claimed Atletico Madrid are sniffing around Casado.
Flick was asked about Bernal in particular and made his feelings crystal clear at his pre-match press conference.
“I hope he stays. My opinion is clear, but in football you never know what can happen,” he told reporters. “He’s coming back from an injury, he’s improving and getting back into shape. He has a lot of potential and we want to help him reach that potential.”
The Barca boss was then asked if Dro Fernandez’s expected departure to PSG would mean Bernal and Casado stay and offered up the following response.
“I don’t know. My idea is for everyone to stay. Dro’s situation isn’t finalized yet, but it’s football,” he added.
“There are players who are 17 or 18 years old, but there are people around them who make decisions. But I don’t want to say anything more.”
