When Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala collapsed on the field against Heidenheim, it marked the second game in a row where the Germany international had an issue.
Afterward, Musiala issued a statement on Instagram detailing his battle against “neurological absences”, but it did raise a lot of questions about when this was diagnosed, when Bayern Munich knew about it, what the plans were for treatment, and why he was out there risking himself in a preseason game, just days after he collapsed the first
time.
In an interview with RTL (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß detailed how the club and Musiala determined that he needed to issue a statement on his condition.
“There was a discussion on Monday between Max Eberl, Jamal himself, his agent and two team doctors. There was an agreement that if Saturday’s incident happened again, then Jamal would speak about it publicly, which happened yesterday,” Hoeneß said.
There are likely many more questions about the situation and how it was handled. Surely, we will learn more and more in the coming days.
