After back-to-back wins we’ve had back-to-back damaging defeats, losing to Spurs at home and then getting eliminated from the League Cup by Liverpool on penalties. The former stings a lot more than the latter, but combined, it all stings quite a bit.
Adding to the general unease is our injury situation, with Maxence Lacroix joining the list of unavailable players after picking up a hamstring problem midweek. The nearly ever-present Lacroix has been a stabilizing force in the backline. Who will replace
him in the center of the back-three? Or perhaps we should move to a back-four? That seemed to work okay against Liverpool…
There’s a surprise addition the list of injured in Jorrel Hato as well, though at least Pep Chavarría has been passed fit after missing the last couple. Malo Gusto and Moisés Caicedo have also been declared fit after having to be taken off in the second half on Wednesday. And Cole Palmer’s back from his suspension.
João Pedro, Reece James, Emiliano Martínez, and Jamie Gittens remain out.
Choose wisely.
