Your Oregon Ducks were in action against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Thursday evening, looking you bounce back after a rough couple of matches. I feel like a broken record, but it was once again a defensive battle for the Ducks on Thursday, with Penn State being by far the more aggressive team in the first half. Oregon was only outshot 5-3 in the half, but Penn State also had 8(!) corner kicks, and also controlled possession 73% of the time. But the Oregon defense held strong, and the match was a scoreless
tie at the half.
The Ducks made some adjustments at halftime, and actually outshot Penn State 6-5 in the 2nd half, and managed to hold the Nittany Lions without a single shot in goal for the game. But in the 58th minute, Penn State would get on the board due to an Oregon own-goal, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Ducks would take three more shots the rest of the way, but to no avail, and they would lose 1-0.
Another heartbreaking loss for Oregon. The Ducks offense has to find a way to step up and find the back of the net, and soon. Otherwise this season is going to get away from them with just 5 games left.
As always, ‘Sco Ducks
