College Performance: Avieon Terrell arrived on campus with some big shoes to fill. Clemson has a history of producing NFL-caliber CBs, and few have reached the height of Avieon’s brother, A.J. Tererell. But Avieon produced during his time at Clemson, becoming CB#1 for the Tigers and a lone bright spot on an often turgid defense. He was never afraid of contact, though
his desire for it led to quite a few penalties early on. He showed improvement. His time with the Tigers was characterized with aggressiveness against the run and the pass, with an ability to quickly diagnose the play and make a decision, a trait that led to a number of memorable plays for the Tigers.
NFL Projections: Terrell appears to be a late first round selection. All of the positives with his play are being weighed against his overall size and athleticism by NFL front offices. Terrell is not the biggest, fastest, or strongest corner that you will see at the NFL level, and that makes it hard for teams to think he’s worth a first round pick. But with an established defense and the right defensive coordinator it is easy to see how Terrell will succeed in the NFL.
