The voting for today’s preferred lineup against AFC Bournemouth was started without knowing whether the likes of Moisés Caicedo, Cole Palmer, and João Pedro would be able to feature, so the percentages may not be an accurate reflection of the community’s preferences.
Still, all three of those players were able to gather enough votes to make the starting lineup, alongside some of the other usual suspects. Less usual suspect Estêvão (57%) did come very close to starting, but unless we shoehorn him in at wing-back,
there was no room for him at this time. Pedro Neto (47%) has been shoehorned in like that before, but did not make the starting cut.
We did see a bit of a resurgence in back-four formations, which the usual back-three setup not even reaching the 60 per cent mark.
3-4-3 / 3-4-2-1 (57%)
Martínez (98%) | Colwill (84%), Lacroix (93%), Acheampong (54%) | Chavarría (52%), Lavia (74%), Caicedo (59%), James (60%) | Rogers (96%), Palmer (64%) | João Pedro (58%)
Marco Palestra (42%) also came close and perhaps would’ve done better had we known that he’s also fit to play at long last. Danny Welbeck (32%), Jorrel Hato (29%), Valentín Barco (27%), Jordan Henderson (23%), Wesley Fofana (20%), and Malo Gusto (13%) round out the voting.
