In the days following the tragic death of Benjamin Satterley, known widely as Pac and Neville in professional wrestling, The Rock was one of the many who shared a tribute to the beloved industry veteran. In his message, the current WWE Board member made comments that caught some folks off guard, namely putting over AEW as a wrestling company while shouting out his “friend” Tony Khan.
It wasn’t much of a shock, then, when rumors got out that there were many within WWE who were surprised at Rock’s comments.
They came via Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, and it led to folks discussing as much online.
One Instagram video from Clutch Wrestling featured commentary taking aim at Meltzer as a divisive figure in the community and claiming it’s silly to think anyone at WWE would be upset about it. The Rock himself ended up commenting on that video to make it clear exactly how he feels about the situation:
“You’re right brother, and humanity matters to me. I was born into this business and I’ve seen it all, but when one of our own passes away, I don’t care nor do I see ‘our competition’, I care about the wrestlers and how it affects them. I’ve been there. To me, humanity matters most.“
There is no argument to make against those words. He’s right, full stop.
May Pac rest in peace.
