The Dallas Cowboys have dug themselves into a hole they may or may not be on to climb out of. This Week 7 matchup against their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, will tell a lot about their desire to win and how the rest of the season will play out. A win keeps their playoff hopes alive, a loss all but ends things.
In order to secure the “W” this week the Cowboys need all hands on deck and need each and every player to be at their best. There are those who will be more impactful than others,
hopefully swaying the game in the Cowboys favor. Below is the offensive and defensive player we believe will impact the game for the better this week.
Offense – QB Dak Prescott
The past two games against the Buccaneers and Packers haven’t been kind to Dak Prescott. He’s thrown for just two touchdowns and four interceptions, and has been under constant pressure nearly every single play when he takes the field. He’s facing a defensive matchup this week in the division rival Eagles who are currently ranked 19th against the run, 26th in past defense, and allowing only 22.8 points per game (16th in the league). We believe he will make a huge positive impact on the outcome of the game this week.
This is a must-win game for the Cowboys and No. 4 knows it. Out of any other QB in the league he knows the strengths/weaknesses of the Eagles defense as well as anyone, and how to exploit them. This knowledge should serve him well this week, especially if they follow the Buccaneers/Packers example with a blitz-heavy game plan.
Everything seems to be going against him heading into this Week 7 matchup, playing in hostile territory and coming off back-to-back poor performances, but we believe this is the week he’ll start to turn things around.
Defense – LB DeMarvion Overshown
DeMarvion Overshown was expected to be a big part of the Cowboys defense this year, but unfortunately he’s missed most of the season after sustaining a hamstring injury in the season opener against the Giants. He’s been rehabbing ever since to get back on the field and is finally expected to make his triumphant return this week against the Eagles. It actually couldn’t come at a better time now that Dee Winters will miss an unknown amount of time after picking up an injury last week against the Packers.
Overshown’s sideline-to-sideline speed and unfulfilled game-changing ability could potentially be the spark that finally helps ignite Christian Parker’s defense. No. 0 possesses the talent to impact the game in the Cowboys favor in a multitude of ways, but sadly reoccurring injuries have kept him from hitting his true potential.
This week he could be the equalizer that helps contain Saquon Barkley, who is returning to the lineup after missing last two games with a hamstring injury. We fully expect Overshown to shine in his return to the field.
