Could Finn Dahmen eventually make the jump from FC Augsburg to Bayern Munich?
Augsburg head coach Manuel Baum is not prepared to dismiss the possibility, although he believes the question is ultimately one for others to answer.
Asked whether Dahmen possesses the ability to play for Bayern Munich, Baum told Abendzeitung: “That’s a difficult question. I can only speak from my perspective and the Bundesliga matches. He performed exceptionally well in those games. That’s definitely the case.”
Baum added
that “everyone has to judge for themselves how they see him,” leaving the door open without making a definitive claim about Dahmen’s Bayern credentials.
Interestingly, Bayern Munich has not yet made contact with any goalkeeper as the club evaluates what could become a major position of need.
According to Abendzeitung, Bayern Munich’s first conversations will likely be with the goalkeepers already on the roster. A meeting with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich is reportedly planned around Christmas, when the club expects to gain a clearer understanding of their plans for the remainder of the season.
If both veterans indicate that they intend to retire together after the campaign, Bayern would then begin seriously examining potential replacements. That is where Dahmen could potentially enter the conversation.
For now, though, Bayern appears to be in no rush. The club is still gathering information, while Dahmen continues to build his case on the pitch. Whether that case is eventually strong enough for Bayern remains a question for the coming months.
