Anthony Gordon was quizzed on his move to Barcelona after featuring for England in a World Cup warm-up against New Zealand on Saturday.
Bayern had been linked with Gordon before he clinched a transfer to Barcelona and he was asked if the move had ‘come from out of nowhere.’
“It came from quite late but once I knew it was Barcelona there was never any doubt in my mind. Barca is the biggest club on the planet,” he told ITV.
“Unbelievable scenario. I must thank Newcastle and Barcelona because they have
both been unbelievable with me. Both worked on my behalf and really looked after me throughout the process to get it done.
“It feels good, really happy, it’s been an amazing couple of weeks. To be a Barcelona player was a dream as a little kid so now I’ve really got to go on and win everything with them.”
Gordon played the second half of the match for England which ended in a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Harry Kane, while Marcus Rashford was handed the opening 35 minutes as Thomas Tuchel changed his entire team at half-time.
