The Michigan Wolverines are just one win away from setting up a colossal showdown against Ohio State, but it hasn’t been easy. Last weekend, Michigan played Northwestern at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and
needed a last-second field goal to win thanks to turning the ball over five times. Still, a win is a win.
Next up is a road game at Maryland. The Terrapins started the season 4-0 but have lost six games in a row and haven’t won since mid-September. They have left a lot on the table this season, but have played a lot of solid Big Ten teams pretty tough.
Michigan has done nothing the past few weeks to suggest this game will be comfortable. It has trap game written all over it with Ohio State looming, but the Wolverines have to remain focused to pick up that big ninth win.
Here are a few bold predictions for the game.
Bryson Kuzdzal will score 2+ TDs
Michigan might have to lean on third-string running back Bryson Kuzdzal this weekend after Jordan Marshall’s injury last week. It doesn’t sound like Marshall is dealing with anything serious, but the Wolverines will likely try to keep him limited so he is at 100 percent for the Ohio State game.
Kuzdzal is likely going to get a lot of touches if that’s the case, and he looked good against Northwestern last week. He is a talented back in his own right and he will put it all on display against Maryland with a multi-touchdown performance.
Dominic Zvada will make a 55+ yard FG
Seeing Dominic Zvada struggle this season has been shocking. He was as close to automatic as it gets last year, but it’s been a different story in 2025. He missed two field goals last week, and one of them was inside 40 yards. He has to make those moving forward.
Michigan needs him to get some confidence back because it can’t afford any misses against Ohio State. After making the game-winner last weekend, Zvada should be feeling better. He will get some more chances this weekend, and he will get back to his normal self with a field goal of 55 yards or longer.
Bryce Underwood will throw for 300 yards with no turnovers
Bryce Underwood hasn’t been perfect this season, but up until the Purdue game, he was doing a great job taking care of the football. That has not been the case the past two games — he had two bad interceptions against Northwestern, but outside of those mistakes, he played his best game of the year. It looks like the staff has found a good recipe for him, he just has to avoid the big mistakes.
I think Underwood will get in another groove this weekend at Maryland by throwing for at least 300 yards and turning the ball over zero times. He will be feeling good going into the Ohio State game.
