Lackluster offense and bad rebounding define Utah’s loss against Golden State . Here are the grades from tonight.
(Note on Grading Scale)
All performances are relative. We won’t expect the same from Jusuf Nurkic as we do Lauri Markkanan. That said, if someone plays well, they get a good grade. If they play poorly, they get a bad grade. Don’t take it too seriously, it’s just for fun!
Lauri Markkanen – C-
Markkanen had more field goal attempts than points tonight. Call it facing better defenses, progressive fatigue, or just
a shooting slump, over the last three games he’s struggled more than at any other point this season. His 18 points on 6-19 shooting earns him another low grade tonight.
Keyonte George – A
George continues to play the best basketball of his career. Tonight he notched 28 points, seven assists, and six rebounds on 58.8% shooting from the field. Tonight, he was far and away the best Jazz player on the floor.
Brice Sensabaugh – B
Sensabaugh did what he does best tonight – score the basketball efficiently. He finished the night with 16 points on 7-12 shooting from the field, but made some questionable decisions with the basketball. Nevertheless, since reentering the rotation, Sensabaugh has made an emphasis on playing more active defense, even if it hasn’t changed is impact on that end much.
Ace Bailey – B+
Bailey’s play as a starter continues to impress. He finished the night with 21 points, three rebounds, and two assists on 8-16 shooting. But more importantly, he continues to be coachable and find his shots through the natural progression of the offense.
Kyle Filipowski – B
Filipowski has yet to string together multiple stand out performances this season. However, tonight he played adequately, scoring 11 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. He was one of two Jazz players to have a positive plus-minus.
Isaiah Collier – C+
Collier’s ability to push the basketball in transition is a valuable skill. However, he continues to not provide much outside of his passing ability on offense. He finished the night 1-4 from the field and didn’t seem to seriously consider attempting a three all night.
Walter Clayton Jr. – C-
Clayton Jr. struggled again tonight. He finished 0-5 from the field and played rushed basketball. Since bouncing in and out of the rotation, he’s struggled to find his footing.
Jusuf Nurkic – C
Nurkic didn’t provide much resistance in the paint tonight. He grabbed nine rebounds and scored eight points, but turned the ball over three times.
Svi Mykhailuk – C
Mykhailuk was fairly invisible tonight. He scored two points and didn’t do much else. Still, he continues to provide good effort on the defensive end.
Kyle Anderson – B
Anderson provided some valuable minutes off the bench tonight. He scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five assists. I’d still rather see Taylor Hendricks play these minutes.
