On Saturday morning, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Florida Gators starting DE George Gumbs Jr. is doubtful for tonight’s game against Miami. Gumbs Jr. has traveled and will attempt to play, but Thamel reports he’s unlikely to play.
Also in Thamel’s tweet, Defensive Tackle Michai Boireau did not travel and will not play against Miami.
This is another big blow to Florida’s defensive line. Star DT Caleb Banks was already announced as out with a “longer term injury” by coach Billy Napier at his Monday press availability.
Though starting EDGE Tyreak Sapp is a very talented player, and there is additional talent on Florida’s team, missing Banks, Boireau, and likely Gumbs Jr. will be a big blow to the Gators defense.
The Canes and Gators renew their rivalry tonight at 7:30pm on ABC.
