Roki Sasaki was forced to exit Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the fourth inning due to a blister to his right middle finger, the Dodgers announced.
Sasaki had completed three innings of one-run ball against Atlanta before allowing three baserunners and a sacrifice fly to cut the Dodgers lead down to one run. The final hitter Sasaki faced was catcher Sean Murphy, who doubled to right field before Mark
Prior and Will Ireton paid Sasaki a mound visit. Thomas Albert was called out of the Dodger dugout to examine Sasaki, and the right-hander was pulled after 66 pitches over 3 1/3 innings. He was later charged for four earned runs after a double from Drake Baldwin.
Wednesday was the shortest outing for Sasaski since the All-Star break, and the four runs charged to him were the most of any of his seven second half starts. Sasaki now has a 3.05 ERA since his start against the New York Yankees on July 17, while his season ERA now sits at 4.60 over 23 starts.
