Rutgers starting offensive tackle Taj White has announced that he will be entering the transfer portal after spending four seasons with the team. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound Jersey City originally committed to Rutgers in the 2022 recruiting class.
After redshirting the 2022 season, White first appeared on the field at Rutgers in 2023, playing in 11 games where he was mostly used as a rotational piece. In 2024, due to some injuries across the offensive line, White appeared in 12 games and started nine
of them. In 2025, he earned the starting role in training camp and started 11 games for the Scarlet Knights, only missing one due to injury. He played over 730 total snaps and started 20 games in his career at Rutgers.
2025 was a tough season for White. While he did block for 1,000-yard rusher Antwan Raymond and 3,000-yard passer Athan Kaliakmanis, he also surrendered the most sacks out of any Rutgers offensive lineman that year (4) and the most pressures as well. (15) His blocking grades, according to PFF, were the second lowest on the team.
In addition to his accomplishments on the field, he earned three all all Big-Ten academic selections during his time with the Knights.
He leaves Rutgers with one year of eligibility remaining.
Rutgers returns offensive tackle Tyler Needham and will likely be getting Ryder Langsdale and Dantae Chin back from injury. On top of that, the Knights are expected to go after a tackle in the transfer portal.
