Are the Kentucky Wildcats poised to land highly coveted transfer Donnie Freeman?
When Freeman left his Kentucky visit without making a commitment, many assumed he was UConn’s to lose, as the Huskies were seen as the favorite before his trip to Lexington and were set to host him on Friday.
However, Freeman has canceled his visit to UConn, and at the moment, he doesn’t have another trip set in stone, though Alabama is pushing hard to get him on campus next week. Canceling the visit to UConn has left
some wondering if Freeman is about to pop for the Wildcats, and one reporter thinks it could happen.
Not long after news broke that the UConn visit was off, Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman said his “educated guess” was that Freeman picks Kentucky.
If that comes to pass, then it would be a major pickup for Mark Pope, who is frantically working to rebuild Kentucky’s roster after losing most of last season’s team to the transfer portal.
But again, with Alabama in pursuit, there’s still work to be done to keep Freeman from making that trip. Ironically, Nate Oats visited Freeman ahead of his Kentucky trip in hopes of convincing him not to go to visit Lexington.
Will Pope be able to keep him from visiting Tuscaloosa? We shouldn’t have to wait long to find out.
