Su Young You pushed his Octagon record to 4-1 earlier today (Sat., Oct. 17, 2026) at UFC Edmonton LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, stunning former Contender Series standout Cody Chovancek with a third-round submission (kimura).
Despite the pre-fight odds being near even, this bantamweight clash was all You from the opening bell. The South Korean fighter wasted little time getting inside and using his takedown ability to bring the fight to the ground. From there,
You dominated the position and didn’t allow Chovancek to do much of anything. There were certainly holes in Chovancek’s defense, but it was more about You’s top control.
It was much of the same in the second round and most of the third, but You found a chance to lock up a finish and took full advantage. Chovancek was trying to do whatever he could to free himself in the final few minutes to try to land a Hail Mary comeback finish, but it left him open to a submission. You saw a possible kimura attempt, snatched it up, and put the finishing touches on his most dominant Octagon performance to date.
