Thursday June 11th
Wilkens Matheiu vs Esquiva Falcao (DAZN, 8:00 pm ET)
BLH will have live coverage results and updates
From Quebec, Canada. An Eye of the Tiger show headlined by Matheiu, a 21 year old riser fighting just his 2nd 10-rounder. He’ll face Falcao, a 2012 Olympic silver medalist and former world title contender. Falcao is the man who lost the vacant IBF belt fight that gave us the brief but beloved championship reign of Vinny Walnuts. Falcao is 36 now, and probably just the right test at just the right time for young Matheiu.
On the undercard: Three Continental Americas level WBC belts up for grabs at feather,
super middle, and light heavy. Biggest names or most notable contenders here in support are probably Leila Beaudoin and Mehmet Unal.
Saturday, June 13th
Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall (DAZN Ultimate or PPV, 1:00 pm ET)
BLH will have live coverage results and updates
From Manchester, England.
There’s a mathematical subsection known as geometric measure theory, focused on using geometric tools and differentials to quantify and more precisely define measurements of sets and spaces with boundaries that are not smooth. Within that discipline, we get the concept of fractal dimension, a notion that shows (with apologies for the broad, simplistic reduction to any actual professional mathematicians in the audience) that the scale of a measurement can significantly (and paradoxically) influence the measured result. Meaning that, sometimes as we try to measure things more precisely in smaller and smaller increments, the inconsistencies and irregularities at the margins can seemingly throw the whole assessment into chaos. What should result in precision and meaningful definition instead becomes confusion and nonsense, particularly to the casual observer.
Anyway, this is an MF-Pro show, the Misfits version of serious and professional boxing. As distinguished from their influencer and non-boxer athlete boxing events. In this one, reality TV star and professional little brother Tommy Fury will fight Eddie Hall, a retired competitive strongman and weightlifter. One thing that can be measured with great accuracy is the price: This is a PPV that will cost you $59.99 as a standalone.
Scott will have your live coverage, and shares the following comments:
Yes, we’ll be watching. Or, well, I’ll be watching. Eddie Hall brings eyeballs from that wider, cuckoo internet world. Tommy Fury, not as much, but Tommy Fury against Eddie Hall? Yeah. It’s a Misfits Boxing show so the fights are full contact and all, they just don’t count on pro records. It will be spectacle and nothing more. But surely Tom’s great, dedicated efforts to becoming a legit world champion will resume after this.
On the undercard: Some other horseshit. Here’s their website with the full rundown. B Dave is fighting. Get hype.
DAZN, 2:00 pm ET Freddy Kiwitt vs Henry Kasujja
From Flensburg, Germany. A German-heavy show, with Kiwitt’s secondary WBO super welterweight title on the line in the main event. Kasujja is from Uganda, his only pro loss came in his first fight, and he’s appearing as a professional outside of Africa for the first time.
ESPN+, 4:45 pm ET MVPW-04 – Oshae Jones vs Elia Carranza 2
From Orlando, Florida, for Jones’ IBF super welterweight title. A rematch of a split decision last July, where the judges had it 10-0 and 8-2 for Jones and 6-4 for Carranza. Two other women’s title fights in support, and Keno Marley appears on the prelims. We plan to have something in The Feed for anyone who wants a dedicated hangout space to watch along.
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs Antonio Vargas (DAZN, 7:00 pm ET)
BLH will have live coverage results and updates
From Glendale, Arizona, for Vargas’s WBA bantamweight title.
Bam is still just 26, and a three-belt unified super flyweight champion. He’s stepping up to bantamweight here to challenge Vargas, who has held some form of the WBA belt at the weight for a little over a year and a half now. Bam is a huge favorite, which is not unexpected given he made his case as a top tier pound-for-pound fighter and one of the defining boxers of this era before he was old enough to legally rent a car in America. He’s effectively must-see viewing every time he fights.
On the undercard: Arturo Cardenas defends a lesser WBC super bantamweight belt against Jordan Martinez, and someone’s 0 simply MUST go (or, be abutted by a draw) in a matchup between Adrian Rodriguez and Elias Terraza. Also, Elif Tur Nurhan defends her IBF flyweight belt against Gabriela Tellez.
