Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé talked to AS in an interview and explained why he thinks he should be leading the race to win the 2026 Ballon D’Or.
“My view is that this is a good year to win it. My best advocate is my feet. As much as I speak. The most important thing for me is that the Ballon d’Or returns to Real Madrid. It must return to the Bernabéu, to the Madridistas, that it returns for all these people to give them hope. Those people deserve it more than anyone,” he said.
When asked about
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, who is also competing for the Ballon D’Or, Mbappé had nothing but praise.
“I think he’s a super talented player, and I have a feeling he’s gonna have a great career. I wish him all the best,” he added.
Mbappé also addressed the controversy surrounding the shirts supporting Ceuta during Real Madrid’s visit to Elche, when Vinicius, Konaté and he only partially wore the shirts.
“I want to explain it well so people understand. It was a decision made by the clubs to include the jersey, to wear the jersey. We, the players, had to wear it. The first thing I want to say is that I have complete solidarity with Ceuta and all the victims. Because before being a player, I’m a human. But I also wanted to have a gesture and a thought for all the immigrants who have lost their lives and who are also in tough conditions,” he explained.
