The question for this team: Is this a serious team?
The easy question is some version of “can Cam Ward make the year 2 jump” but that doesn’t really matter for the Titans. Even
if he does, the rest of this franchise is a joke.
Coming off a 3-14 season, a new head coach should bring in a culture change. Let’s take a look at how that’s going:
“One of the first things we did here was get rid of all the seed oils in the building”
Robert Saleh has moved beyond adding and removing ping pong tables. He probably also believes the 49ers practice facility is being poisoned by a power station.
Not ingesting seed oils will be 12 free agents signed to contracts with at least $1M guaranteed. A low bar, but 8 of those 12 players came from losing teams in 2025. Four were from the Giants, including three of their five highest guaranteed contracts. Of the 26 total free agents they signed, 14 previously played for either Saleh or offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Bringing a different type of losing culture is technically a culture change.
Tennessee entered the offseason with about $105M in cap space. They spent half of it. There are two ways to view this.
On the one hand, quality free agents are not coming to this team in this state, so there’s no reason to spend money just to spend money. There are several avenues by which bad teams stay bad, one of them is by handing out undeserving contracts due to not understanding the free agent market, or trying to look like they are doing something, or both.
On the other hand, the Titans aren’t going anywhere by augmenting a terrible roster with cast offs from other bad rosters, most of whom were parts of the losing teams their play callers were in charge of.
The Titans have won 6 total games in the last two years, and just one of them was against a winning team. Winning 6 games this year would be quite the accomplishment.
