CBS’ Adam Finkelstein, who is plugged in from the high school ranks through to the pros, has released his most recent NBA mock draft and top 100 prospects list post NBA Draft Combine. The news should excite Villanova fans, as Finkelstein has Italian center (and Villanova target) Luigi Suigo at 38th in his top-100 list.
This is more in line with most mock drafts at this point, with an exception here or there for the 7’4” big man. Assuming Suigo meant what he said on his Instagram Live (that he would
only stay in if he’s in the top 20), withdrawing seems to make more sense by the day.
Michigan’s Morez Johnson Jr. recently announced that he is staying in the draft, and recent reports suggest that Arizona’s Koa Peat, Santa Clara’s Allen Graves and North Carolina’s Henri Veesaar will be following suit. While they are not all centers, they are all big men who are ranked ahead of Suigo by the consensus. This equation should also include Connecticut’s Tarris Reed Jr., who has impressed at the combine and seems to have solidified himself as a first-round pick.
As an aside, it appears that Suigo has recently followed the Wildcats’ Kwame Evans Jr. on Instagram.
The deadline for international players to withdraw is June 13, but the deadline to maintain college eligibility is May 27. There should be a resolution to this ongoing discussion within the next five days. Links to both the mock draft and the top prospects list below.
