Bayern Munich is no stranger to weird and funky injuries and illnesses that threaten to derail the team by appearing at the most inconvenient time. Manuel Neuer was no exception and recently divulged the root cause of his recent injuries.
“They had a different origin. Because I had some stomach and intestinal issues, my body was a bit weakened,” Neuer explained (Abendzeitung as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “That’s why I had these minor problems; it was really like a ‘cold in my calf’.”
If you
remember, Bayern legend Arjen Robben once suffered a muscle injury due to two rotten teeth.
The 40-year-old also downplayed talk of getting a contract extension: “I enjoy playing with this team and working with this coaching staff. It’s important to me what the team’s dynamics are like. Anything is possible.” Neuer wants to feel himself out before committing to more years of playing with Bayern.
The GOATkeeper has shown that he’s the best in the business by producing a record-breaking performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League, making nine saves as Bayern went on to win the first leg 2-1.
