On April 28, 2026, the New Orleans Saints added another piece to their secondary by signing former Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr.
Here’s a few facts to help you get to know the newest member of the Saints:
The Pensacola native attended Pine Forest High School. In his senior year, he recorded 91 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 4 pass breakups, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries which
earned him All-Area honors from the Pensacola News Journal.
Emerson attended Mississippi State University, playing 3 seasons for Bulldogs. He recorded 153 tackles (93 solo), 6 stops for a loss, one interception, 16 pass breakups and one forced fumble through 36 games played. He was a 3rd Team All-SEC selection in 2021.
Drafted in the 3rd round (68th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, Emerson recorded 202 tackles (158 solo), 1 sack, 5 stops for a loss, 4 interceptions, 34 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery in 33 starts.
Last year, Emerson suffered an Achilles injury during training camp which caused him to miss 2025 season, but the 25-year-old said he’s been cleared physically and will be ready to go for the start of Saints training camp.
