(Opening Stadium) “Proud of our football team, it was a good win for us. I thought we showed great fight. I thought we came out and played much better in the second half. Obviously in the first half there were some things that happened here and there we’d like to clean up and be better at, but we continued to respond and our guys continued to fight the entire game. Defense came up with a timely interception to give us a momentum shift and get us up by two scores and we took it and ran
with it from there. That’s what you’ve got to do when you’re playing conference games and Power Four opponents, you never know what’s going to happen. You’ve got to try to play the best you can, but you’ve got to just continue to fight the entire game and let your players try to make plays. Fortunately for us we were able to get that done and get the win.”
(On Isaac Brown’s development over the past few weeks)
“I think he’s done a good job without question. I think his practice habits have been really good. He understands what it’s going to take to show up on game day. He had been nicked up, he got nicked up in the last game as well and played through it. We had to hold him out basically all the bye week and try to get him back and limit him a little bit this week. Proud of him, he made some big plays for us again. There were other guys that got nicked up, Lincoln (Kienholz) was nicked up in the last game, sat out the whole bye week as well, and came back and limited him in practice as well and he came in and did a good job. Our team shows toughness, they stick together and want to win and we’ve just got to continue to try to get better overall.”
(On the game shifting momentum after Tayon Holloway’s scoop and score)
“Well, it did. We unfortunately gave up some big plays and that’s what we can’t have, but we gave up big plays. In between that, we did a decent job, but we gave up big plays and I think luckily the oNense responded and luckily the defense just kept fighting. And then to get the turnover on the hook and ladder they tried, it was a really good job by our defense. We had talked about them running some trick plays, we stopped a reverse pass they ran earlier. I think we were prepared for it, had a good hit, picked up the ball, scooped and scored and then kind of took it from there. So that’s what I’m proud of, the guys continued to fight, even when things unexpectedly happen that you don’t want to, but we’ve just got to try to fix those.”
Isaac Brown, Jr. RB
(On his performance against Stanford)
“It felt good. Practicing this week getting me in open space. I feel like the practice this week helped us get an advantage on the Stanford defense.”
(Do you feel like at this point in the season the oFense is running on all cylinders?)
“Yeah … From the beginning of the season we started oN slow, so, I just feel like we had a little talk with Coach Brohm and the OC. So we had to just start fast this game.”
Tre Richardson, Sr., WR
“I feel like we clicked this game. It showed that we can start fast, continue fast and execute in the second half. Like he said, we started oN slow in the beginning of the season but this bye week showed us that we got the talent, we got the explosiveness and we’re putting it out there.”
(To Tre) Is there more pressure/weight on your shoulders with Lawayne (McCoy) being out?
Tre Richardson
“A little bit. Without him (LaWayne), it’s like a one-two punch, one-two-three with TreyShun (Hurry), so without him, it’s like me and Trey have to be the one-two punch. I feel like I have to pick up a little bit where he’s not there so, yeah, there was a lot of weight. We just went out there and executed what we game planned.”
(After winning three games in a row. Where is the confidence level at heading in to the final month of the regular season?)
Tre Richardson
(I feel like, the final month, it’s a one game season. So, we go one game at a time. Keep winning. Let everything else play in to a factor of making ACCs and doing everything we set out to do.
Isaac Brown
“Like Tre said, it’s a one game season. I feel like the whole team … our standards are up here. It can’t go back down anymore. I feel like we just need to keep fighting and trying to get to the ACC Championship.”
Tayon Holloway, 5th Year, DB
(On how he felt after the scoop-and-score)
“It felt really good. Shoutout T.J. (Capers); thought he made a really good hit on the player for me to just scoop it and score. I really didn’t do nothing, it was just all my teammates just playing together, flying to the ball, and playing as a unit.”
(On the defense stepping up in the second half)
“I think we are a second half team. So, I knew we were going to go out there, muscle up, buckle down and do what we are supposed to do, like we know we can and we’re capable of.”
Lincoln Kienholz, Sr., QB
(On what it’s like to see guys like Isaac Brown have success)
“It’s super nice, you know, having someone like that to hand the ball oN to and he’ll just take it to the house. I think we had a three-play drive and then a one-play drive. As an oNense and as a quarterback, it just takes the stress oN you. So, I think having him and Bama [Keyjuan Brown] is super important for us.”
(On his confidence when the oFense goes out on the field)
“I feel super confident. I think we did a good job today coming out fast and scoring on the first drive for the first time this season maybe. So, I think that was super important for us as an oNense. It was something that we went through this past week and weeks before and we’re striving to get better at, coming out fast and scoring on that first drive. I feel confident in the oNense. I feel confident in the receivers, O-line, running back and tight end. I think all of those guys do a good job for us.”
Stanford Head Coach Tavita Pritchard
Opening Statement
“Hey everybody. We just got done talking to the team, and what I let them know was we wanted to come in here and play for four quarters, at least, a complete game. I thought we were in a pretty good spot going into halftime, and we were in a place that we gave ourselves a chance to go to that second half and compete to win. Then, we lost focus in the second half, and we didn’t make enough plays down the stretch. We had some mental lapses kind of in every phase. That was the message to the team. With that being said, that’s a good football team we just played. A team that absolutely deserves the win there, and they went out and did it. Like I said, they played better than us down the stretch. That’s what we have to look to improve. Me as a head coach, us as a staff, is how do we get this team to play for a full four quarter or more game?”
