Juan Reyes is the kind of passenger that makes you wish boarding passes required a pre-fight psych evaluation.
The 51-year-old Reyes went nuts on a Frontier Airlines flight to Chicago earlier this week, attempting to smash open the cockpit door, urinate on the lavatory floor, and rip open the emergency exit — all while cruising at 35,000 feet.
Retired MMA fighter and not-profiled jiu-jitsu black belt Josh Longood happened to be on the plane.
“I knew he was gonna do something crazy so I restrained him
and put him against the window and then safely controlled him so he couldn’t hurt anybody,” the 37-year-old Longood told CBS News.
Longood (3-1) is a black belt under Vitor Oliveira (Grappling Fight Team).
As for Reyes, who also assaulted an off-duty flight attendant, he’s facing a battery charge and a possible FAA fine upward of $40,000. Not to judge a book by its cover but something tells me that’s a fine Reyes won’t be able to pay anytime soon.
Note to Frontier: keep MMA fighters on your flights, they come in handy.
