The Portland Trail Blazers enter the Summer of 2026 with a new outlook. They’re fresh off of their first NBA Playoffs appearance in five years. Team leader Deni Avdija just received his first All-Star nomination. They have a new ownership group led by businessman Tom Dundon. Also, for the first time since 2021, the Blazers have no first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
That combination of factors points to the free agency and trade portions of the offseason as critical for Portland. They’re not
below the salary cap, so they have no natural advantage in free agent signings. That leaves trades as the clearest avenue through which the Blazers can improve their roster.
As the following weeks unfold, we’re going to explore several potential trade targets for the team, but today we want to ask a simple, preliminary question: Will the Blazers make a major trade this summer?
For these purposes, we’re going to define “major” as a trade that nets a starter who is a borderline star player or better, someone forecast to be among their top three players heading into the future.
We can also define trade significance by outgoing players, of course. In addition to letting us know whether you think Portland will bring in a Top 3 guy, tell us the percentage chances of Portland trading away each of the following:
- Deni Avdija
- Scoot Henderson
- Shaedon Sharpe
