The Royals head to the South Side to see the White Sox for the hundredth time this season (or at least that’s how it feels). Because the White Sox can’t seem to beat the Royals in Kansas City, let’s hope having home-field advantage will help.
Shane Smith (3-7) will get the start tonight. Smith hasn’t had the best of luck this season and is holding onto an ERA of 4.12, but with 102 strikeouts. The red-hot batters, mostly Colson Montgomery and Kyle Teel, are not starting tonight. Instead, Will Venable
is sending out Korey Lee to catch and Curtis Mead at third base. Mike Tauchman is also out of the starting lineup. I know they aren’t striving for a playoff spot, but this lineup is bleak.
Noah Cameron is on the mound tonight for the Royals. Cameron (7-5) has had a steady ERA of 2.53, but only 83 strikeouts. We’ll see the usual names tonight, with a lethal top three.
First pitch is 6:40 p.m. CT. You can watch the game on CHSN or listen on ESPN Chicago 1000.
