Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Bears fans and fans across the country.
Before we published this week’s Chicago Bears confidence survey in our Feed section on Monday, we discussed waiting for official Caleb Williams news on the severity of his hamstring injury. Once it was reported that he’d be week-to-week, we published, thinking now fans won’t panic and vote that the season is doomed!
Little did we know that
Chicago’s QB2 would enter the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Tyson Bagent is a pretty good backup, but if he misses time with Caleb, the Bears are down to Case Keenum.
Sure, Keenum looked good in the preseason against guys who are now selling insurance or managing Enterprise Rent-A-Cars, but starting an NFL game at 38 years old isn’t the same as starting at 31, which was how old he was the last time he was a club’s primary QB1. Or even at 35, which is how old he was in his last NFL start.
I think Keenum will be fine with a run-heavy, quick-passing, max-protect type of game plan, but the Bears could be one hit away from UDFA Miller Moss taking his first career NFL snap.
That said, Williams’ injury may be only a week or two, and fingers crossed Bagent is fine and symptom-free soon.
Also, the Bears defense seemed to have bounced back last week! Although they didn’t get any takeaways, and there was a downpour, but they played better than Week 1!
Chicago also signed a new (old) long snapper, so the special teams are fixed too!
The 2026 season is young, and September football is often weird, so how are you feeling about the Bears’ direction?
