Welcome to the second edition of the Weekly Stat Review! A blowout 34-3 victory against the Atlanta Falcons provides a significant bump in league-wide rankings compared to the post Week 1 edition. The sample size is only two games, but progress is still progress.
Before we move on to the stats, though, here’s some housekeeping notes for the series. The majority of data is pulled from NFL Savant which uses the NFL’s public data. There are some metrics that we’ll be tracking that do have a significant
lag in posting time and therefore may not be available or updated every week – you’ll notice this with the zone versus man coverage percentages below. Secondly, the league wide rankings may not be taking into account games played on Sunday or Monday night in a given week, so the outcomes of those primetime games may shift the rankings a spot or two in either direction.

Offense

Percentage of plays that qualify as an explosive play. Explosive plays being a carry of 10 or more yards or a pass attempt gaining 20 or more yards.

BONUS Stat of the Week
It was nearly impossible to choose the bonus stat this week as there were plenty of fascinating options to choose from, but I’ve decided to go with one that is particularly interesting given the recent history of the team and the impending contract of Bryce Young.
Through two games, the Panthers offense has a pass rate of 63.9% which is the currently 5th highest in the league. That’s nearly 10 percentage points higher than their 2025 rate of 54.4% which was 23rd in the NFL.
