The latest Bears Banter Podcast has dropped!
After a bumpy week one outing for both the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, the two teams find themselves facing off in a week two match-up that you could argue is a must-win game for both teams if they want to be in the playoff hunt in December.
To discuss both Detroit and Chicago, Patrick Meagher of VSiN joined the podcast. Meagher is a Michigan-native who is a big Lions fan but has covered the league for 15 years.
Several topics were discussed, ranging
from Dan Campbell to Ben Johnson, the struggles of new OC John Morton, and, of course, Caleb Williams.
Meagher appreciates the concern that some Bears fans have for Williams at this point, but he says it’s too early to panic.
“The Caleb Williams issues, Bears fans, just breathe,” Meagher stated. “I get it. The footwork is dirty. I don’t even care about the wheel routes that he missed. When he sailed it on fourth down (to DJ Moore down the sidelines), I think he just got nervous there. The 4th and 3 throw, it wasn’t even close. But just breathe. You saw it, for the first quarter, what the kid is capable of… He’s a plus-plus athlete. Just breathe, he’ll be fine. Ben Johnson is not good. Look what happened to Jared Goff in one game without him. He’s great. They’re going to be fine.”
