AZ star Kees Smit has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman has admitted the youngster reminds him of Pedri.
Smit has been called up to the Under-21s for the international break but has been tipped to make the senior squad in time for World Cup 2026.
Koeman certainly seems to be a fan and thinks he has a big future ahead of him.
“I have to be careful with what I say, but I coached Pedri at Barcelona and I see things from him in Kees Smit. The turns, the use of both
feet, the vision of the game… that’s what I saw in Pedri back then,“ he said.
“What he is showing at such a young age is impressive. If he achieves half of what Pedri has achieved in his career, everyone in Holland will be happy.”
Smit is still only 19 but has been linked with a host of top clubs across Europe due to his impressive performances with AZ and certainly seems to be one to watch this season.
