It only took one week for Saint Mary’s to move back into the top spot of the men’s Other Top 25. Each of the top seven teams from last week are in the top seven once again with some shifting.
The Gaels,
who were No. 2 last week, are 9-1 this season with their lone loss coming to then-No. 24 Vanderbilt. They topped Davidson in their lone contest this week to bounce back from that defeat.
Randy Benntt’s club is 19th in the NET, 28th in BartTorvik and 31st in KenPom. SMC ranks 20th in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency.
Saint Louis is up to second. The Billikens are 8-1 with their one loss coming by one point to Stanford. They have eclipsed the 100-point mark three times and 90 points on three other occasions. SLU sits at No. 32 in the NET and 40th in both KenPom and Torvik.
Utah St., last week’s No. 1, dropped to third. The Aggies suffered their first loss of the season 74-61 at South Florida, who joined the ranking in a tie for 21st. USU bounced back with win at Charlotte. It sits 38th in KenPom, 39th in the NET and 51st in Torvik.
The Atlantic 10 boasted four of the top six ranked teams. Joining No. 2 Saint Louis were Dayton at No. 4, George Mason at No. 5 and VCU at No. 6.
Colorado St. was the big mover this week. The Rams catapulted into the top 10 at ninth from No. 22 last week. CSU sits at 7-2 and has won three straight. Those victories have come over Wichita St., South Florida and in-state rival Colorado.
St. Bonaventure made a similar big move as it came in at No. 12. The Bonnies are 9-1 with the only defeat coming to North Carolina. They won at Buffalo in their most recent game.
Six new teams joined the ranking: Richmond, New Mexico, Davidson, Kent St., South Florida and Hawaii. They replaced Cal Baptist, San Francisco, Buffalo, High Point, New Mexico St. and Rhode Island.
