It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Chris Peal
Position: Defensive back
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 200 lbs.
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
High School/Previous College:
Providence Day School/Georgia Bulldogs2024 stats: Appeared in four games with Georgia, finished with one tackle.
2025 projections:
Chris Peal played sparingly in his two years with Georgia. He’s certainly in the conversation to be a starter, although it seems that Davien Kerr is emerging as the favorite there. Regardless, Peal will certainly play. He’s got a puncher’s chance to break out and could emerge as a starter, whether due to injuries elsewhere or capitalizing on the opportunities available. At the very least/bare minimum, he’ll carve out a large role compared to what he’s done so far in college.
How’d he get here?: Originally committed to Georgia in October 2022 over offers from Michigan, Auburn, Florida State, NC State, South Carolina, Penn State and several other notable schools. Played in five games over two seasons with the Bulldogs, including the 2024 championship team. Committed to the Orange as a three-star transfer in May.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Four-star on 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals

Interesting nugget o’interest: Peal certainly comes with a reputation of being a speedster on the field, but he definitely has some leaping abilities as well. In high school, Peal finished third in long jump at the 2021 and 2022 North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association state championships. As an added bonus, he was also on the varsity basketball team.
