Despite (or perhaps because of) widespread concern about a global recession, and depressingly-less widespread concern about the authoritarian tendencies of the current United States President, UFC Freedom 250 is set for the South Lawn of the White House on Sun., June 14.
Not to be confused with 2020’s UFC 250, or the dream/nightmare you had about a mixed martial arts show held at the White House after binging too much South Park that one time in 2007, UFC Freedom 250 is a Donald Trump project that will
celebrate the USA’s 250th anniversary at his gaudily-redesigned Presidential mansion with an MMA card devoid of the sports biggest names*.
It’s also a sizable investment for UFC parent company TKO, as that outfit wants to remain on Trump’s good side even though its president & COO Mark Shapiro says they’ll lose money on the event. It makes sense then that TKO is pulling out all the stops, making UFC Freedom 250 a two-day extravaganza — and bringing in stars from TKO’s other big sports entertainment asset to the party.
We don’t know who will represent WWE during meet-and-greets during the weekend-long Fan Fest. But the just released line up for both days says “Superstars” will be there:
Who do you think will get the nod? Undertaker seems like a safe bet, but who else? Will anyone turn them down, or who do you think won’t get asked? Sound off below. It’s the most fun you’ll probably have with UFC Freedom 250…
*In a move right out of the WWE playbook, UFC announced the return of its biggest name, Conor McGregor, during Saturday’s Netflix-streamed, Jake Paul-promoted Ronda Rousey/Gina Carrano event. McGregor returns as a heavy underdog against Max Holloway on July 11 in Las Vegas
